Turkey’s First 3D Ship Stability Software by Ayden Marine
Known for its groundbreaking work in naval design, Ayden Marine is now preparing to launch Turkey’s first 3D ship stability software, marking a major technological milestone in the country’s maritime industry.
According to the company’s Founder and General Manager Ayçın Özsakabaşı, the software is the result of over 16 years of development, blending advanced engineering with deep practical experience. “We are proud to introduce a product that is at least 4 to 5 times faster than its international competitors,” she said. “Until now, Turkish naval engineers have had to rely on expensive foreign software. These products often operated as monopolies, offering little flexibility and limited relevance to the real needs of our industry.”
Özsakabaşı explained that the idea began with her background in both software and ship stability during her time at Türk Loydu. The development process faced many interruptions due to external events such as political instability, the 2016 coup attempt, and the COVID-19 pandemic. “We came close to opening an office in the Netherlands, but the pandemic hit. Like many businesses in Turkey, we had to slow down and scale back,” she said. “Still, we kept using the software internally, and when the industry was ready, we returned to complete what we had started. It was delayed, but it became stronger.”
A Relay of Innovation
“This is a relay,” said Özsakabaşı. “Senior engineers before me also worked in this field. They carried the flag to a certain point, and now it’s our turn. I believe the next generation will take it even further.”
Currently in the final testing stage, the software is being evaluated with the help of university students. “They are incredibly capable and interested. Compared to 16 years ago, there is now much more awareness and enthusiasm among young engineers, especially with the rise of technologies like AI. I believe they will elevate this project even more.”
Global Vision, Local Responsibility
Ayden Marine plans to begin international expansion starting from Europe. “We’re launching a product for the global market, but we haven’t forgotten why we started,” Özsakabaşı stated. The company intends to offer the software free of charge to universities and support small maritime firms that cannot afford expensive licenses.
“This project was never funded externally,” she added. “We reinvested our design project earnings into it. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this software. It’s not just a commercial venture. It’s something our families and team members have all sacrificed for.”
Ayden Marine already provides loading software to both commercial and Turkish military vessels. The company has also carried out a number of design projects, but considers this software to be its most meaningful and exciting accomplishment.
Launch Event Set for April 16
A launch event will be held on April 16, featuring a technical presentation and celebration night. The program will begin with a session tailored to engineers and users of stability software, followed by a reception and live performances by Ümit Besen and Pamela.
“The event is our way of sharing this joy with those who walked this journey with us,” said Özsakabaşı. “This is a professional product that belongs to Turkey, and we want to mark the occasion as a truly historic night.”
