Ro-Pax Ferry Designed by Ayden Marine Launched into Water
A Ro-Pax ferry designed by Ayden Marine has been successfully launched following approximately 1.5 years of construction. The vessel, commissioned by Marmara Ro-Ro S.S. Erdek Marine Motor Carriers Cooperative, is set to operate in the Marmara Sea.
Built at Türkoğlu Shipyard in Yalova, the ferry was launched with a formal ceremony. With a length of 90 meters and a beam of 22 meters, it stands out as the largest coastal passenger vessel operating in the region under cabotage regulations. The ship is capable of carrying 500 passengers and 150 vehicles, making it a key addition to the area’s marine transport infrastructure.
Ayçın Özsakabaşı, General Manager of Ayden Marine and lead designer of the project, shared her thoughts at the launch event:
“Despite its large dimensions, the vessel’s form—developed by our dedicated engineers through countless hours of effort—has resulted in excellent performance in both speed and fuel efficiency. The construction process unfortunately coincided with the pandemic, presenting unexpected challenges. However, through strong collaboration between the shipowner and the shipyard, we successfully completed this valuable project. We are proud to have contributed this vessel to our country and wish it well in service for the people of the Marmara region.”
The new ferry is expected to significantly enhance marine transportation across the Marmara region, offering a modern and efficient alternative for passengers and vehicles alike.
